Early Years Play Area Transformation At Pudsey

Are you looking to develop your Early Years outdoor area?

Would you like a child-led learning-space for your Early Years children, packed with endless open-ended opportunities?

Well, you’ve come to the right place.

Find out about our recent project at Pudsey Waterloo Primary School in West Yorkshire.

Our mission was clear: collaborate with the school to transform this space into a vibrant, stimulating environment that would ignite imagination, promote physical activity, foster language development, and support learning in every corner.

Take a look at the photos to see the transformation of the Early Years area. Leveling the ground, installing lush artificial grass, and erecting a beautiful hardwood robinia fence with interactive music panels have made a significant difference. The staff can now use this space throughout the year, and the children absolutely enjoy rolling on the grass! The music panels are a hit with the students, who are developing their musical and expressive skills effortlessly.

We then constructed a dedicated bike track. We applied fresh tarmac and laid down an excellent thermoplastic track, ideal for young cyclists to develop their balance and coordination. To protect the bikes, we built a new bike shed. This isn’t your typical dark, cramped storage; our Playscheme bike shed is bright and spacious, with a polycarbonate roof that lets in plenty of natural light and is constructed from durable, pressure-treated timber to ensure longevity.

Understanding the importance of sensory experiences for early years children, we introduced a stunning sensory pyramid. This colorful structure serves as a tranquil retreat for quiet moments or as an imaginative play space. The tinted windows add a magical element.

To further encourage creativity and language development, we provided the school with a new outdoor stage, complete with a backdrop. The children have begun staging their own plays and incorporating it into their class story, ‘The Gingerbread Man.’ Watching their imaginations take flight is truly remarkable.

Lastly, we mustn’t overlook the significance of organization. We’ve supplied the school with ample new storage solutions to maintain a tidy outdoor area and ensure everything remains accessible.
