We've captured the bravery of Vikings and exhilarating Nordic folklore with our five brand new themed play areas for next year. Channel the mighty Baldur's strength to combat the balance challenge, or tackle the fearsome Norse dragon and complete the course for a truly inspiring and challenging experience.
Following on from our spectacular Sunken Viking Ship at the historic Warwick Castle, we wanted to create an entire play scheme with different Viking themed zones that would wow any child that stepped foot in to it. And we've definitely done that! What child wouldn't like to make believe that they were fighting a fire-breathing dragon with a sword, or seeking out Odins trinket?
Our beautifully designed and created zones are all expertly themed to the era of the Vikings and are all differing to appeal towards certain skill and age ranges. Created from a rustic and natural looking Robinia wood, the construction of each area has a real natural aesthetic and is perfect for this type of development.
Explore and enjoy the excitement of the Viking settlement. From the boardwalk leading to the Viking dwelling, to the nest swing down to the sunken boat, imaginations are free to run wild here. With adventure around every corner, the fun will never end!
This area is aimed at toddlers, providing fun role play and climbing and adventure activities. The main elements of this zone are:
Take part in a great Viking pastime; all you have to do is use your climbing, balance and co-ordination skills by stepping on shields, tables, leaping into the fort and through the Viking Ship to prove your prowess as a true Viking!
This area is based around our traditional adventure trail, but we have taken the adventure to the next level on this one! The main elements of the Shield Walk are:
Straight out of Nordic folklore... Come face to face with the Norse Dragon! The Skeleton of a once great beast lies still, its bones offering a climbing challenge for those who dare. The giant net weaves throughout, providing daredevil challenges of its own. A truly accessible item for all abilities. The main elements of this thrill-seeking zone are :
Tread carefully along the path, the forest gateway leads you to woodands where Vikings once lurked. Stay vigilant and look out for challenges, settlements and even the remains of folklore beasts!
If you're looking for an adventure here then be sure to check out the following parts of this trail:
Take on Baldur's 20m Challenge. The Nordic God has set you a challenge to test your skill and nerve. Climb, crawl, leap and slide your way through the trees to complete the course and please the gods. The course can be started from either end, but be prepared to encounter other challenges along the way, increasing the difficulty of the course. What are you waiting for?
Be sure to check out the following:
Earn your place in Valhalla. Discover the chests in each area and take rubbings from the shattered remains of the Odins trinket. Only once you have completed the quest will you earn the respect of the gods.
The amazing and mystical Valhalla Quest is made up of connecting pieces to allow children to move from area to area as they take rubbings from each individual part of the trinket to create a whole picture at the end. Good luck!
The Viking themed play areas are ideal for a Forest School, large public space or farms and local attractions. The possibilities are endless!
