Buddy Benches (October 21st, 2002)

Playscheme are pleased to support the Buddy Bench initiative. Set up and supported by the NSPCC Full Stop Campaign, the Buddy Bench is intended for school play areas to provide a place for children to sit in an informal request for company and friendship. This may be from fellow pupils or a teacher/playground supervisor. A bench or some form of seat with a sign can be set up as a Buddy Bench to encourage children to seek company who may otherwise feel excluded or unhappy. Older children may also be encouraged to support children using a Buddy Bench and therefore take some responsibility for others.

New Honeycomb Mat Safety Surfacing (August 1, 2002)

Playscheme is now able to install and fit the latest in safety surfacing. Our rubber honeycomb mats adhere to the European standards for safety surfacing up to a critical fall height of 3m. Ideal for installation over existing grass under equipment our honeycomb mats allows grass to grow through for a more natural look and the grass can be easily cut and maintained as normal. Alternatively the mats can be fitted over top soil which can then be seeded. The mats are secured in place through glueing and pinning into the ground with sloping edges into the surrounding ground. Our honeycomb mats are fitted at a price of £45 per square metre.
