The Boardwalk concept involves children removing boards from behind to in front when required to progress across the equipment without ever touching the ground. The piece itself is provided with four boards with hexi-grip surfaces and treated timber framing underneath to fit squarely on the Boardwalk rails. The rails themselves are 50mm diameter galvanised steel tubes at 4m long.

Teamwork arises from the fact that the boards are difficult to move and reposition alone. Communication is also important when co-ordination is required where several children have restricted space to move in. The difficulty of the equipment can be affected as deemed necessary by the number of boards used and/or the number of children undertaking the task.
